FFA members gather 3,000 pounds of baling twine to recycle

by Tyrel Dressler

While members of the Carson Valley FFA chapter were attending the FFA National Convention in Louisville, Ky., FFA member Bridget Wood, 4-H member Brian Hoskin, parent volunteers and Steve Ceresola were gathering baling twine at the ranch of brothers Allen and Duane Chichester in Coleville, Calif. Nearly 3,000 pounds were collected.

The twine was bagged and taken to Ceresola Plastic Recycling in Wadsworth. The recycling business recycles the twine, and the end product is used in the roofing industry.

The FFA chapter has set up recycling bags at S&W Feed on Curry Street in Carson City and Laxague’s in Gardnerville on Industrial Way. We also have a drop-off box at our ag room at Douglas High School.
