Family Support sets series
Family Support Council Parents and Children Together (PACT) program is offering three classes to help parents enhance their parenting skills.
“We believe that being an effective parent is one of the most rewarding relationships in life, and it’s also one of the most challenging. Part of that challenge involves sorting out conflicting theories of child training found in books, newspaper and on television. It’s so easy to become confused, ” said Deborah Van Bruggen, PACT coordinator.
To clarify this barrage of often confusing information, Family Support Council is offering a seven-week parenting class series to meet the challenges of raising children today.
The dates and times are Parenting Young Children (parents of children age 0-5), Jan. 28-March 11 on Thursday evenings; Effective Parenting (parents of children 6-12), Jan. 27-March 10 on Wednesday evenings; and Surviving Your Teen (parents of adolescents age 13-18), Jan. 26-March 9 on Tuesday evenings.
All three of the classes will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and child care is available on the premises at no charge. There is a $5 material fee.
For more information or to register, stop by the office at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville or call 782-8692. This series is sponsored by the Nevada Children’s Trust, Title XX and the Smallwood Foundation.
