Summerville at Virginia Creek offers a number of events this month.

Jan. 11. A respite presentation, “What is respite? Who uses respite? Where is respite provided?,” will be held at 3 p.m., presented by Stan Dowdy from the Rural Nevada Respite Organization.

Jan. 20. High Tea Social, 2 p.m. Residents are invited to come sip some warm tea and socialize with residents and staff. Tea sandwiches and other goodies will be served.

Jan. 22. Winterfest Senior Lunch, noon. This monthly lunch joins residents and community together in an appreciation of seniors.

Jan. 26. Summerville at Virginia Creek will hold a day-long celebration of Capt. Cook’s discovery of Australia. The fun begins at 1 p.m. with a cooking class by Summerville’s Australian chef. At 2:30 p.m., there will be an Australian Film Festival. To top off the day, there will be an Aussie Happy Hour, complete with Aussie hors d’oeuvres and Fosters, the famous Australian beer.
