Elks offer New Year’s Eve party

Staff reports

The Minden-Douglas Elks Lodge is planning a big New Year’s Eve party to celebrate the turn of the century upstairs at Sharkey’s in Gardnerville.

The event, billed as the New Year/New Century/New Millennium Celebration, will be held Dec. 31 from 9:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. Jan. 1, 2000, with dancing to Brian Farnon’s 17-piece Tahoe Big Band and music from the 1940s and ’50s.

A midnight toast is planned, and dress is semi-formal. Party favors will be distributed, and there will be a no-host bar.

Hors d’oeuvres will be offered during the party, and breakfast will be served at 1 a.m. Jan. 1, catered by the executive chef of Harrah’s five-star Summit Restaurant, Lake Tahoe.

Seating is limited, and cost is $110 per couple.

For reservations, call Dave Trueblood at 782-3416 or Doug Tucker at 265-7208.
