Elks’ enthusiasm can’t be dampened by water damage
The Tahoe Douglas Elks Lodge on Kimmerling Road suffered extensive water damage the day after New Years, when a water main broke above several of the business offices in the building.
Repairs are estimated to take one to three months. The lodge has canceled their monthly Taco Nights and Sunday breakfasts until the damage is addressed and the building is up and running once again. There are several location adjustments for other planned events.
The annual Crab Feed has been relocated to the CVIC Hall in Minden and will be held Feb. 12. Questions about the crab feed can be directed to Jim at 267-9205.
Their Citizen of the Year dinner banquet has been rescheduled for March 26 at the Lodge. Questions about the banquet can be directed to Rich or Mary Retterer at 392-2249.
Additional information about the crab feed and Citizen of the Year banquet will be forthcoming as each event date nears.
Tonight’s bingo game will be held at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center, 1329 Waterloo Lane, in Gardnerville. Doors open at 5 p.m. with warm up games at 5:30 and regular games starting at 6. Participants must be 21 years and older to participate.

Tahoe Douglas Elks Exalted Ruler Mary Retterer expressed gratitude for the community’s support as they work to recover from the damage. She also thanked the East Fork Fire Protection District personnel for their rapid response the day the water line break was discovered, and to BELFOR Water Damage Restoration and Repair for their help in getting the Lodge back into order.
Meneley Elementary fundraiser at McDonald’s
Tuesday is McTeacher’s Night at McDonald’s in Minden. 20 percent of the restaurant’s sales between 4-7 p.m. will directly benefit CC Meneley Elementary School.
Ronald McDonald and Meneley mascot Monty the Mountain Lion will be there, and prize giveaways are planned for each hour.

Snow Buster Open at Carson Valley Golf Course
Carson Valley Golf Course invites everyone to their inaugural Snow Buster Open Saturday. Play will be on the FootGolf course, which has 21-inch cups. The 18 holes range in yardage from 62-232 yards. Shotgun start is at 10 a.m.
Golfers need clubs and tennis balls to play; tennis balls will be available for purchase at the course. The cost is $33, which includes green fee, golf cart, $10 prize fund and soup.
