Eldercare Coalition seeks candidates for Senior for a Day
The Carson Valley Eldercare Coalition, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting creative and innovative services to the seniors of Douglas County, announces its fourth annual Senior for a Day program.
All children, relatives and friends of seniors over the age of 65 may submit the name, phone number and whether the senior being nominated is male or female to the Carson Valley Eldercare Coalition, P.O. Box 667, Minden 89423.
A random drawing will be held Dec. 6 from which two males and two females will become the seniors of a day. They will be treated to lunch and each will receive a gift basket full of goodies.
All letters submitting names for this special event must be received no later than Nov. 25. Those selected will be contacted immediately for the luncheon, which will be held Dec. 14 at Sharkey’s Nugget. For further information, contact Elaine Agnason at 782-7282.
According to Agnason, over the past several years, the Eldercare Coalition has been responsible for the printing and distribution of 5,000 senior services directories, sending birthday and Christmas cards to all Meals on Wheels recipients, arranging yard cleanups, donating dietary supplements for the homebound and putting together “goodie bags” at Christmas for all Meals on Wheels recipients, as well as supporting other programs dedicated to the elderly in the Carson Valley.
All services are provided to seniors free of charge, Agnason said.
