Education Foundation Festival Food and Fun is big success
The Douglas County Education Foundation held its 13th annual Festival of Food and Fun fund-raiser on Oct. 3. The event, hosted by Harrah’s Tahoe, was a great success. The incredible food was prepared by chefs from Harveys Resort Hotel-Casino, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Caesars Tahoe, Horizon Casino Resort and Carson Valley Inn.
The theme, “We’re Crusin’,” was set around the grand prize -a seven-day Caribbean Cruise for two, donated by Harveys Resort Hotel-Casino. The guests walked the gangplank to enter the event and the Trustees acted as the crew. Madison Avenue entertained and Terri Q. Sayer teamed up with Mike Schiller as auctioneers.
Thanks to the continued support of all the generous individuals and businesses who either attended or made donations, the foundation was able to raise more than $32,500 to benefit the children of Douglas County School.
The Douglas County Education Foundation, established in 1984, is a community-based, non-profit, tax-exempt organization.
The foundation is governed by a board of trustees whose members are individual citizens, including parents and leaders from both Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe, who volunteer their time, talent and expertise.
Its purpose is to enrich and elevate the educational experience of Douglas County students by providing grants to educators for curriculum enhancement, awarding academic scholarships and recognizing extraordinary teaching.
