Ecumenical Thanksgiving service planned

Staff reports

Using the theme, “We Gather Together,” Carson Valley United Methodist, Coventry Cross Episcopal, Christ Presbyterian and St. Gall Catholic churches have coordinated an ecumenical worship celebration to be held Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Eve, at St. Gall Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.’The service will begin at 7 p.m.

“The Christian community acknowledges Thanksgiving as a time for sharing, not only material blessings, but spiritual as well,” said Alice Gingrich of St. Gall. “The service is non-denominational, and all Valley residents are invited and welcome to share in this evening of worship and celebration.”

The choir will be made up of many members of different area churches and the service is aimed at all age groups, she said.

“The Thanksgiving holiday calls each of us to count our blessings, which are abundant in the beautiful Carson Valley,” she said. “Please set aside this special time to come and give thanks and praise for the many gifts in our lives.”

A non-perishable and canned goods offertory will benefit the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. Monetary donations will support the Heifer Project International.
