East Fork paramedics to take part in EMS Week
East Fork Paramedics will be celebrating Emergency Medical Services Week May 17-24 by visiting schools, hosting an open house and offering an adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation class.
During lunch all week long, paramedics will eat with students at Valley elementary schools. They will also have an ambulance parked outside the schools so kids can have a look and ask questions.
The idea is to let the kids become acquainted with paramedics and the ambulance and therefore not be afraid if they some day need to be transported to the hospital, says paramedic Ron Haskins.
The East Fork Paramedic District will hold an open house at Station 14 at 1699 County Road in Minden May 23, 9-4 p.m. Refreshments will be served and tours of the station given by off-duty personnel. Blood pressure checks will be performed by staff from Carson Valley Health Center.
On Saturday, May 24, an adult CPR class will be offered at the station. To reserve a spot, or for more information, call the station at 782-6171.
