East Fork gallery invites public to celebration
The East Fork Gallery will celebrate its 20th anniversary with, as guests of honor, four of the gallery’s charter members at a reception July 25.
The four to be honored are Lynn Kelley, Geraldine Lawrence and her husband James A. Lawrence and Elfriede Short.
Lynn Kelley is a self-taught artist who is known for her oil and acrylic paintings of the landscapes of northern California and Nevada., She has exhibited in many juried shows and private galleries and has won numerous awards. Lynn now uses a variety of media for her artistic expressions.
Geraldine Lawrence has been involved in the arts for many years as a teacher, painter and mentor. She was instrumental in bringing art to western Nevada, organizing art groups, shows and classes. She uses oils, acrylics and watercolor.
James Lawrence is a nationally recognized watercolorist and had his first one-man show in 1940 in New York. Since then, his paintings have been exhibited countrywide. His love of wildlife and the outdoors form the basis for much of his work.
Elfriede Short was born and raised in Germany where she studied art. After moving to the United States, she expanded her talents to include watercolor, acrylics and pastels. She is also known for her handpainted Christmas ornaments and wooden Easter eggs in addition to her landscapes and florals.
New work by members Margaret Biggs, Beth Bosmans, Marge Buttles, Reiko Hervin, Mechele Johnson, Melba Oliver, Ginger Rose, Barbara Seeman and JoLinda Smith will also be on display at the reception.
The event will be held at the East Fork Gallery on the main floor of the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395 North in Gardnerville, noon to 5 p.m. A raffle drawing will be held at 4 p.m.
