Douglas High drama to hold drama camp for youths

Staff reports

The Douglas High School Thespian Troupe #990 will host its third drama camp, “Camp Iwannaact,” for children currently in grades 1-6. The camp will be held in the DHS Drama Room on Friday, June 25, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to noon, with a performance for parents at 7 p.m.

The registration fee of $25 covers instruction for both sessions, one snack each session and a camp T-shirt. Students who register must participate in both sessions. Enrollment is limited, and the deadline for registration is 3 p.m. on Monday, June 21. Enrollment forms are available at the front office of Douglas High School.

“Camp Iwannaact” will help children improve their skills in imagination, cooperation and observation through exercises in creative drama. Children will work on playmaking, as well as incorporating facial, physical and vocal choices into an acting performance.

Students who attended one of the camps last year are welcome to attend again for a reduced fee of $20. Families with two or more children participating will also receive a reduced fee.

For more information, contact Rod Hearn, camp director, at Douglas High School, 782-5136, or at home, 783-9445.
