Douglas election filing deadline looms
Genoa, Nev. — Political hopefuls have until 5 p.m. Friday to file for the 2016 election cycle.
On Wednesday, Zephyr Cove resident Nicholas Shepack filed for Area 3 Douglas County School Board trustee, ensuring there will be a candidate for each of the four seats open this election.
Irv Phillips and Steve Wilcox filed for the Douglas County Mosquito Abatement District.
Jodie Nelson filed for Kingsbury General Improvement District on Wednesday, bringing the total candidates up to three, including Craig Schorr and Natalie Yanish.
Zephyr Cove resident Catherine Gibb filed for Skyland General Improvement District, which brings that slate of candidates to four.
Also filed for the Lake Tahoe board is John Peel, Susanne Petrizzio and Bob Senna Jr.
Tahoe Douglas Fire District has four candidates signed up as well, with John Breaux, Greg Felton, Ann Grant and Larry Schussel on the list.
Four Lake Tahoe general improvement district boards still have no one signed up, including Lakeridge, Oliver Park, Sierra Estates, Zephyr Knolls.
