Douglas Disposal food drive is next week
“Share the Joy of the Holidays with Our Community” is the theme of the fifth annual Holiday Food Drive being held by Douglas Disposal Inc. The business would like Carson Valley residents to share in the efforts to make the holidays a little brighter for Carson Valley neighbors this year, according to Carol Sessor, owner.
During the week of Dec. 6-10, residential customers may place a bag of canned and/or packaged foods and household goods in a bag next to their trash can on the regular trash collection day.
To help residents remember, the drivers will distribute door hangers this week to ask participation in the collection. All contributions will be donated to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet located in the Hussman Building at 1255 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, according to Donald Williams, route supervisor.
The employees of Douglas Disposal Inc. ask that you “take a minute to think of those less fortunate than we are and give what you can to help make a difference.” Should you miss the truck, you may drop off your contributions at the office, 1504 Highway 395, #10, Gardnerville. For information, call 782-5713.
The Carson Valley Community Food Closet, a non-profit organization manned solely by volunteers, attempts to provide emergency foods year-round to those who qualify through Douglas County Social Services.
