Douglas Class of ’69 announces reunion
The Douglas County High School class of 1969 will celebrate its 50-year reunion the weekend of June 7-9 in Carson Valley. A meet and greet on June 7 will be held at the Bently Heritage Estate Distillery in Minden beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Members from other classes of Douglas High are welcome to join the class of ’69 for this event.
After breakfast at the Minden Park on June 8, look for a float representing the class of ’69 in the annual CV Days Parade. Classmates not on the float, are invited to meet at the JT Basque Bar & Dining Room in Gardnerville to watch the parade and celebrate Carson Valley Days together.
A tour of the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, which was the junior high for the class of ’69, is scheduled for 1 p.m. followed by an open house at the Dangberg Historic Park at 2:30 p.m. The JT Basque Restaurant is hosting a cocktail hour and banquet Saturday evening. Members from other classes are welcome to join in the cocktail time from 6-7:30 p.m., but the banquet is just for the class of 1969, spouses and faculty members.
A professional photographer will be on site for photo-ops and a memory book filled with past and present photos will be published and distributed later this summer. A memory board will be present Saturday night to honor those classmates who, though no longer with us, still hold special places in our high school memories.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 9, a catered barbecue lunch and beach party will be held at the 4-H Camp at Stateline, Lake Tahoe. Class members have invited family and friends to this event. The lunch is being provided by John Hurzel with “A Catered Affaire.”
The last reunion the Class of 1969 had was 30 years ago in 1989.
“Because of this, we are all very excited to be getting together again knowing full well it may very well be our last reunion,” organizer Karen McGee said. “Please come join us to share all those great DHS memories.”
