Discovery Center preschool has openings

Staff reports

The Discovery Center Preschool that is sponsored by Douglas County Parks and Recreation Division now has openings for the fall session beginning Sept. 2.

This part-time developmental program is designed for 3-5 year olds and includes creative art projects, movement exploration, cooking, games, music, storytelling, drama, language skills and lots of fun.

Parents may choose between one, two or three days of programming a week at the preschool located at 1631 Esmeralda Place in Minden. Classes run from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuition is based on $11 per day.

“It is the Discovery Center’s belief that each child is a unique individual with special needs and abilities. The children are encouraged to create their own art work, play space and games so they can develop a better sense of self,” said director Cindy Webb.

“Psychologists and educators agree that during the years between birth and five years old, children develop, learn and grow more than they ever will again during any other period of their lives. To capitalize on these vital years, programs at the Discovery Center have been carefully planned,” Webb said.
