DHS students attend anti-underage drinking conference at UNLV
Eight Douglas High youths, Jeff Groves, Sarah Wise, Erica Brockage, Blaine Spires, Lauren Hayes, Heather Rowe, Justin Sullivan and Sarah Hobgood, attended the “Stand Tall, Don’t Fall 2000” conference at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
“Stand Tall, Don’t Fall” is a Nevada organization combating underage drinking. Throughout the week-long conference, the students listened to speakers talk about the problems of underage drinking in their communities, attended skills clinics and developed plans to take back to their community to help reduce underage drinking.
The students also participated in a town hall meeting where they were able to ask experts as well as state leaders, such as Frankie Sue Del Papa, questions regarding the concerns about underage drinking.
This conference was held in the last week of July.
