DHS music awards made at last concerts

Staff reports

The final instrumental concert held at Douglas High School, “Sine Nomine,” of the 1998-99 DHS concert and jazz bands last week was received with cheers and whistles from parents, graduates, students and community members.

An estimated 300 people came to the DHS Commons to listen to the award-winning instrumental groups perform, and see who the annual senior awards would go to.

Bands from Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School and Carson Valley Middle School performed several numbers before the DHS Jazzcats took the stage.

Playing lively songs which include Route 66, Misty, Blues is My Favorite Color, Beyond the Sea and Green Onions, the Jazzcats demonstrated the reason they received “Superior” and 1st place ratings at the recent Great America Festival in California.
