DHS leadership class will hold food drive

Staff reports

The leadership class at Douglas High School will hold a drive-by food drive for non-perishable foods on Nov. 20 at the AM/PM and Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lots at the south end of Gardnerville from 9 a.m. to noon.

All food collected by the students will be distributed to charities in time for Thanksgiving.

Chairpersons of the project, Ashley Conroy and Jennifer Matis, are challenging the residents of the Carson Valley to raise more food than Douglas High School students, who will be contributing to the cause Nov. 8-19 at the school.

“Last year Douglas students donated over 6,000 items,” said Conroy. “We’d like to see the community beat that amount.”

Conroy also said that leadership class students would be at the parking lot to accept the donations.

For more information, Conroy and Matis can be reached through Douglas High School at 782-5136.
