Dancers offer performance to benefit AIDS research

Staff reports

Dance students from the Carson Valley are excited to be chosen to participate in the Dance Excellence! festival in Hollywood, Calif., in March.

They attend the Pinkerton Dance Academy in Carson City, which is the only dance studio in the state selected to send dancers to this international gathering.

Dance Excellence! brings together dancers from all over the world, as well as top professionals and master teachers to exchange ideas and share their love of dance, said a Pinkerton spokesperson.

Class emphasis will be on on dance, but will also integrate all other areas of performance, such as voice, acting, auditioning and modeling. As an added attraction, these students will perform at Disneyland during the festival.

A total of 15 dancers from the area will attend Dance Excellence! and represent Nevada. Seven of these dancers are from the Carson Valley. They have been raising funds to defray the cost of attending and are actively seeking sponsors.
