CVMS students learn about math and work

by Kelly McIntosh

You’d be surprised how many people use math in their everyday jobs, as were the students in Andrew Vecchione’s ninth grade math classes at Carson Valley Middle School recently.

These classes did multi-part projects on jobs that use math and on well known mathematicians.

Groups built models and made diagrams to explain how different professions use math. Some students went to job sites to witness first-hand the impact that math has everywhere.

It was great to see how many different ways math is used and all the students had a better understanding of these ways after completing their projects.
