CVAA mounts members’ art show at college
The Carson Valley Art Association is presenting the members show at Western Nevada Community College, Douglas, off Buckeye Road in Minden.
Members’ art will be on display to the public during the month of March and available for viewing during the hours, which are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. There are 42 paintings in various media represented by 17 association artists.
At this show, which is referred to by members as the “In-house Show,” the Douglas County Public Library in Minden purchases one painting to go into their permanent collection in the library’s Nevada Room. Artists are encouraged to submit works of art that reflect scenes or activities in the Carson Valley. At the end of the show, the members hold an awards banquet and presents the winning artist with an awards check from the library.
The Carson Valley Historical Society also chooses a painting to purchase at this time, and that awards check is presented at the banquet as well.
The paintings, which are for sale, should be of interest to all Carson Valley residents.
