CVAA members’ in-house show now at WNCC Douglas
The Carson Valley Art Association will present the annual members’ show at Western Nevada Community College, Douglas, off Buckeye Road in Minden.
Members’ art will be on display to the public during the month of March and will be available for viewing during open hours, Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There are 38 works of art represented by 19 associated artists. At this show, which is referred to by members as the “in-house show,” the Douglas County Public Library in Minden is invited to choose one painting to go into their permanent collection. This painting, purchased by CVAA, is given to the library as a token of appreciation for the use of the meeting room.
The Carson Valley Historical Society and the county government are also invited to choose a painting to purchase. If purchased, the historical society will use their painting as part of its fund-raising auction in August. The county government will hang its painting in an appropriate public building, if the choose to purchase.
The winning artists whose works are purchased for these prestigious purchases is announces at the group’s awards banquet.
The presentation of the check and the artists and work chosen is kept a secret until the awards banquet.
