Woman in custody after DUI wreck

A Gardnerville Ranchos woman was taken into custody after a collision at Highway 395 and Mica on Wednesday.

Crystal Charlie Dean, 39, was taken into custody after she was found with a loaded weapon in the floorboard of the vehicle she was driving after a background check revealed she was a convicted felon.

Dean was allegedly under the influence at the time of the 5:03 p.m. wreck. A blood alcohol test revealed she had a .185 blood alcohol content.

Michael Joseph Meyer, 54, was arrested after deputies got a report of a reckless driver 7:49 p.m. He was found standing next to his vehicle near a Gardnerville Ranchos daycare urinating.

A background check revealed he was convicted of a felony DUI in Utah in 2003. Under Nevada law any DUI conviction subsequent to a felony conviction is considered a felony carrying a lengthy prison sentence.

■ A man is facing multiple felony counts of battery by a prisoner after he allegedly bit a deputy during an Oct. 12 struggle in the jail.

Joaquin Romero, 24, is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court after conditionally waiving a preliminary hearing.

Attorney Matthew Ence is seeking an evaluation for Romero, which is something beyond the purview of the justice court.
