Woman faces second car theft charge

A California woman, who allegedly took a vehicle from the couple she was staying with while she was awaiting proceedings for taking her mother’s vehicle, is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday.

Helen Ann Auth, 51, is accused to taking a car from a Gardnerville home on May 19 and abandoning in Placerville four days later.

According to court documents, Auth had been released from jail on a similar charge on May 6, after she was being prosecuted for allegedly taking her mother’s vehicle on Feb. 19. That vehicle was also located in Placerville.

Auth was arrested on a warrant issued on June 23 and is being held in Douglas County Jail on $15,000 bail.

■ A man is denying he was driving a stolen vehicle and trailer when he was arrested by a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper.

Tyler Chadwick, 33, was allegedly driving southbound on Highway 395 on Monday night in a pickup towing a trailer that had been reported stolen.

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over on Highway 395. According to court documents, the pickup he was driving was also reported stolen.
