A Gardnerville Ranchos woman, who allegedly took more than 2,000 narcotic pills from the pharmacy where she worked, faces a felony theft charge.
Ashley Erika Trumpower, 29, is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court on Nov. 29, after she waived her preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
The thefts turned up during an audit of the pharmacy's narcotics.
A video camera was set up and Trumpower could allegedly be seen taking pills out of a tray and putting them in her pocket.
Among the pills were several different doses of hydrocodone, and some oxycodone.
When confronted by deputies, she said she would take 10-15 pills per shift. She said she had back pain and couldn't afford a doctor.
