Victim in fear of man’s release

A mental health hold was lifted for a Topaz Ranch Estates man accused of holding a gun to a 16-year-old neighbor girl’s head on New Year’s Eve.

Gary Walker, 69, must still post bail to be released from custody. The victim’s family says they are afraid Walker will be released.

Attorney Kris Brown told the court that they are seeking a spot for him with the Veterans Administration, and that he will remain in custody until that occurs.

If he makes bail, Walker will have to wear a GPS device and is under an order not to contact the victim or her family.

■ A California man was taken into custody on Wednesday after deputies responded to a report of a man walking in circles near Service Drive.

They found William Matthew Bell Jr., 50, lying on the sidewalk, waiting for work on his car to be done.

A background check revealed a fugitive warrant issued for him out of Santa Barbara County.

Bell was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court today.
