Two arrested after traffic stop
A man and a woman were arrested Monday night after a drug dog alerted to their vehicle during a traffic stop in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
According to the sheriff’s office, the dog located a container with .4 grams of suspected methamphetamine inside in the driver’s seat.
Driver James Goldberg 56, and April Adkisson, 45, were detained by deputies at the scene of the Rubio Way traffic stop.
A search of Adkisson’s purse revealed a small bag with white residue in it that amounted to a tenth of a gram of methamphetamine.
Goldberg was arrested for possession of a controlled substance second offence and possession of paraphernalia. Adkisson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Adkisson is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday.
■ A Gardnerville man admitted Friday to taking a car stereo from Walmart without paying. Austin Healy Mordhorst, 19, was sentenced to 40 days in jail. The remainder of his sentence was suspended.
The theft took place on April 10.
■ A Johnson Lane resident reported Thursday receiving a phone call from someone claiming he had won a cash prize. The man said he hadn’t entered any contests and told the man on the phone he wasn’t giving him any money.
The caller then became very angry and started threatening the resident.
The deputy tried the number but it wouldn’t work. He warned the resident not to give out any information over the telephone to a caller.
■ Deputies responded to a report on Monday in the 1300 block of Centerville that someone had broken the glass door from a New Holland L218 skid steer tractor.
The estimated cost of the damage was $1,000.
