Thieves snag more than $4,000 in beauty products

More than $4,000 in cosmetics were reported stolen Saturday from Ulta Beauty.

Deputies responded to the Indian Hills business after the store's general manager said she saw the thefts while reviewing the store's video surveillance.

According to the manger, three Hispanic-looking females entered the store around 4:30 p.m. Friday. In less than 10 minutes they walked out — without paying — with 105 items worth a total of nearly $4,200.

According to the surveillance video, the suspects were a heavier-set female wearing a grey sweatshirt and dark-colored pants, a female wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue pants and a female wearing a black and red jacket and black pants.

■ A Carson City man was arrested Friday for walking in the roadway while intoxicated.

According to court documents, Christian A. Fletcher, 49, was walking his bike in the northbound lane of Plymouth Drive near Carson Valley/Tahoe Self Storage. He was "swerving dramatically back and forth and taking up the entire travel lane."

When a deputy stopped him, Fletcher became vulgar. Fletcher had a breath alcohol concentration of .267.

After he was detained and taken to Douglas County Jail he attempted to kick a deputy and wouldn't listen to verbal commands. He was put into a restraint chair with a spit hood over his face. Fletcher managed to kick a deputy in the shin and spit on a deputy through the spit hood.

His bail is set at $50,000.

■ A Gardnerville Ranchos man was arrested Sunday for his third DUI.

According to court documents, a deputy responded to a call about a man lying next to his truck on Fredericksburg Road. When the deputy arrived, the deputy found Jeffrey A. Rossi, 71, driving his truck into rocks along the road.

Rossi refused to stop driving and the deputy had to physically enter the truck, place it in park and remove the keys.

Rossi admitted to the deputy that he'd had six beers and six shots of Jack Daniels before driving. He had a breath alcohol concentration of .265.

Rossi had previously been arrested in 1994 and 1995 for felony DUIs causing bodily harm. He was also charged with a DUI in 2014.

His bail is set at $10,000.
