Pear trees stolen
July 25, 2017
Several thefts were reported last week throughout Gardnerville.
The St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, reported that someone had stolen two pear trees from the church's yard last week. According to reports, the church has purchased five pear trees to be planted on the property and when members went to plant them Wednesday, two were missing. They believe the trees were taken sometime between July 14 and July 19.
The church did not wish to press charges, but the loss of the trees was about $200.
A second theft was reported July 14 near the area of 1300 Lampe Drive. The victim stated that the night before she had awoken to her dog barking at the back door around midnight, however no alarms in her home went off so she didn't think anything of it, reports stated.
The next morning, the victim found a door to the garage ajar, the door to her car- which was parked in the garage- ajar, and an empty gas tank though she had filled it the day before. Deputies believe the suspect had syphoned gas from the vehicle. They attempted to dust the gas tank cover for fingerprints but were unable to find any.
