Man arrested after allegedly coming at deputy with shovel

A Gardnerville Ranchos man who allegedly came after a deputy with a long-handled shovel was arrested Saturday for assault on a police officer.

Daniel P. Peck, 55, was arrested at 7 p.m. at his home after deputies received a report that he was threatening suicide in a drunken rage.

Peck ran from deputies who responded to his home until he was cornered in the backyard.

According to court documents he came at a deputy with the shovel raised over his head, and was Tasered twice before being subdued enough to take into custody.

He allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .173, according to the sheriff’s report.

That was the second incident where deputies had to struggle with a suspect in the Gardnerville Ranchos on Saturday.

Bail for Benjamin Cecchettini, 27, was set at $10,000 cash or bond for intimidating a public officer after an altercation 3 p.m. at Long Valley and Dresslerville roads.

Cecchettini was allegedly seen battering a woman while the couple were driving down Long Valley.

A Samaritan got them to stop and intervened. A deputy was flagged down and Cecchettini struggled with him.

A Reno man who was stopped for speeding was taken into custody after it was discovered his license had been revoked.

Andy Cardenas Garcia was clocked doing 75 mph on Highway 395 south of Gardnerville.

He was stopped when it was determined the vehicle wasn’t registered and he didn’t have a valid license.

During a search subsequent to his arrest, deputies allegedly found a baggie containing what they believe to be cocaine.

A Gardnerville Ranchos man was taken into custody on Friday night, accused of possession of a controlled substance.

Brandon S. Perry was arrested 6:11 p.m. on Industrial Way after he was allegedly seen dropping a baggie of what is believed to be methamphetamine.

Deputies stopped him after receiving a report of a domestic battery subject in a vehicle similar to his.

A Gardnerville Ranchos woman was taken into custody early Tuesday morning for possession of drugs after she was stopped near Wheeler Way and Tillman Lane.

Shalese Fanter, 32, was stopped just after midnight at Wheeler Way and Tillman Lane after she failed to fully stop at a stop sign. She was found not to have a driver’s license in her possession.

Methamphetamine was allegedly found in her purse.
