Man admits robbery

A Yerington man admitted to a charge of robbery in connection with a kidnapping last December.

Francisco E. Perez, 28, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery and battery with substantial bodily harm in court Monday.

Perez, along with 35-year-old Stacy Conti-Salway, are accused to kidnapping and robbing a man at gunpoint. On Dec. 14, 2016, Douglas County deputies responded to the Gilman Avenue area for a man who had been attacked in his home. Perez and Conti-Salway allegedly beat the victim with a metal bat and held him at gunpoint so he could get money out of the ATM for them. Perez was arrested Jan. 3, 2017, after deputies identified the two as suspects.

He was originally charged with first-degree kidnapping, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and fraud, though the charges were dropped or reduced as per the plea agreement.

The case was to go to trial Aug. 22, before Perez changed his plead to guilty. He is now scheduled to appear for sentencing in October. Conti-Salway is scheduled to appear Sept. 11.
