Gardnerville woman accused of taking money from employer

A former manager is scheduled to be arraigned in East Fork Justice Court on Monday for allegedly embezzling up to $30,000 from the Minden McDonald’s.

Royall Hampton-Palmer, 23, quit Oct. 1. The following day, managers reported the money was missing from the restaurant’s register.

Investigators learned Hampton-Palmer quit when they went to the restaurant to talk to her. When they went to her Gardnerville apartment they were told she’d moved out.

Hampton contacted deputies and came in for an interview.

She told them she’d taken cash from the restaurant while doing drops by stuffing the money in her sleeves.

She allegedly said she took the money to purchase a vehicle and to pay for registration and insurance. According to the sheriff’s report, the rest of the money went to clothes and playing slot machines.

According to the sheriff’s report, she told investigators she took about $8,000 in August, but that she wasn’t counting.

She appeared in East Fork Justice Court and was released on her own recognizance pending the filing of charges.
