East Valley man accused of having stolen ATV
An East Valley man is scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday after he was arrested for riding an ATV that was reported stolen.
James Cyrus Jordon, 61, was riding the ATV in a travel lane on Highway 395 near the Wa-she-shu Plaza south of Gardnerville when deputies tried to get him to pull over.
According to the sheriff’s report, Jordon traveled 150 feet before he pulled over.
Jordon was booked into Douglas County Jail on a charge of possession of stolen property.
He appeared in court on Monday, where attorney Derrick Lopez was appointed to represent him.
■ A Johnson Lane resident reported on Friday that since July 19, someone has tried to open four different credit cards under his name.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the man received the first call from Cabela’s because someone tried to change the address on his card.
Since then someone has tried to open three American Express cards and a Chase card.
An American Express employee told the man that someone had his name, Social Security Number and his mother’s maiden name.
He told the deputy that with a police report, he’ll be able to apply for a seven-year program to prevent additional attempts.
