On her first day back from a cruise, a Carson City billing manager was confronted by her coworkers over the theft of at least $40,000 from the clinic where they worked.
Cindy Lou Katzenberger, 58, pleaded guilty to felony embezzlement on Tuesday.
In exchange for her plea, prosecutors won't object to her receiving a suspended sentence.
Katzenberger's attorney said they contend the amount taken was closer to $40,000. The prosecution is claiming it could be more.
Katzenberger worked for Tahoe Fracture Clinic. According to court documents she kept cash that patients paid, and doctored the books to cover up the theft.
According to investigator's information, Katzenberger would call patients and offer to take a cash payment for what they owed.
