Comdy Night is fundraiser

Staff reports

Comedy Night Live will again fill the Carson Valley Inn’s Shannon Ballroom starting at 9 p.m. on Friday night, Nov. 21, with headliner Del Van Dyke and feature comedian Rick Pulido. This Comedy Night Live is a special fund-raiser sponsored by Soroptimist International of the Carson Valley, and $5 of each ticket goes directly to Soroptimist scholarships and community service projects.

Admission to the comedy show is $15 and tickets are available in advance at the inn’s Casino Cashier or from any Soroptimist member. Tickets will also be sold on Friday, Nov. 21 at the door.

Van Dyke’s brand of humor is down to earth. He is energetic and improvisational, and has been compared to Sinbad, although his style is all his own. He has a lot of great material on kids – since he’s raising three of them. Van Dyke has performed internationally and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition and the winner of the 1992 Alameda Comedy Competition. He has appeared on George Schlatter’s Comedy Club, Showtime Comedy Club Network, and Good Time Cafe, as well as comedy clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Pulido, a writer for the Jay Leno Show, has appeared at The Punchline, The Comedy Store, Bonkers and The Comic Strip. Rick has also appeared on TV’s Up and Coming Comics and Comedy Quickies.

Kat Simmons produces and emcees the inn’s Comedy Night Live shows. Her wit and charm combine to produce a guaranteed fun evening.
