Churches in Carson Valley are offering a variety of events and services in the next week.

St. Gall Catholic Church

1343 Centerville Lane


Dec. 24. Children’s Mass with children’s choir, 4:30 p.m. at the church. Christmas Eve Mass with contemporary music, 7 p.m at the church. Midnight Mass, carolling begins at 11:30 p.m., with traditional choir, at the church.

Dec. 25. Christmas Mass, with traditional choir, 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Noel Christmas Dinner, Genoa, 1 p.m. For people who have no fmaily to share dinner with on Christmas Day. To obtain an invitation, call 782-2852.

Dec. 31. New Year’s Eve service, 8 p.m., with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until New Year’s Day.

Carson Valley Christian Center

Dec. 18. “Star is Born,” a children’s musical, will be offered tonight at 7 p.m. Sixty children, a live band and surprises are in store, along with hot wassail punch and refreshments.

Dec. 19. Christmas Sunday services will be at 9 and 10:30 a.m. A full band and musical presentation will accompany a dramatic portrayal.

Dec. 24. Christmas Eve candlelight services will be held at 6 and 8 p.m. for the entire family.

Trinity Lutheran Church

Dec. 19. Annual Advent-Christmas Cantata tomorrow at both the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship times.

The cantata, “Angels of Christmas,” presents the message of Christmas from the point of view of the angels. The choir is under the direction of William Zabelsky. The narrator for the cantata is Robert McKie. Community welcome.

Dec. 24. Pastor Larry A. Miller said that members of the community are welcome to attend Christmas Eve worship at 5, 7 and 11 p.m.

Dec. 25. The community is also invited to Christmas Day worship at 10:30 a.m.

Christ Presbyterian Church

Dec. 24. “Lighting the Way” and “Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh,” a Christmas candlelighting service, 7 p.m. at the church. Sermon is “I Couldn’t Care More,” by the Rev. Al Fry.

High Sierra Fellowship

Dec. 24. A Family Christmas Eve service will be held at 6 p.m. with a candlelight communion service and special music, scripture reading and communion. Community invited. Information, call 782-7486.

Unity Church of Today

Genoa Town Hall

Dec. 24. The Unity Church will present the traditional candlelighting service at 8 p.m. with prayer, Christmas story readings and instrument and vocal music. Everyone is invited. Information, 782-4429.

Carson Valley United Methodist Church

Dec. 19. The Chancel Choir will present its annual Christmas cantata at both the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services. Choir members will be performing a new work by Joseph M. Martin entitled “Canticle of Joy,” which, according to Cindy McIntosh, choir director, is “the most difficult selection we’ve ever attempted.”
