Christian rock band to host concert

Staff reports

The Christian rock band SWAT (Soul, Witness and Testimony) will host a three-band concert Feb. 18, 7 to 10:30 p.m. in the Minden CVIC Hall.

Tickets are $3 at the door and all proceeds will go to benefit Renegade Radio, a Christian rock station that provides youth with contemporary sounds without the questionable lyrics commonly found in rock music.

Most Douglas County residents will have trouble picking up Renegade Radio on their dials, but with the Internet, the station can be heard on the Web site,

The concert will be the local debut for the band and their music. All of the music is original, completely written and created by band members Charlie Hodge, Sam Hodge, Joe Hodge, Justin Wayne and Nick Guadagni.

SWAT will play in churches to promote youth activities by providing concerts free of charge.

Helpers are still needed for the concert in the areas of setup, cleanup, kitchen crew and as prayer team members. Parents and youth leaders are welcome to help out in any way they would like. Contact the band for questions, bookings and to offer help at 782-8622.

Wayne’s Family Music in Gardnerville provides recording and sound system support and The Manger Christian Book Store in Carson City helps to get the word out about the concert.
