CCMES wants all students to have library card; holds ice cream social

Staff reports

C.C. Meneley Elementary School is hoping that every student at the school will obtain – and use – a Douglas County library card this year.

On Aug. 8, an open house for blue track students and their parents and an ice cream social for everyone was held, and a Douglas County librarian was on hand with applications for library cards.

Carol Rapacz, the library’s community program director, said she gave out 37 library cards and many applications for cards during the evening.

“That was a great start,” she said. “I was happy.”

Rapacz said that to give out 37 cards for what was basically a one-track event was a good number.

Students or parents interested in getting library cards may call the library at 782-9841 for information.
