CCMES students hold chess tournament
Mike Jessup, 6th grade teacher at C. C. Meneley Elementary School, coordinates two chess tournaments a year, one in the winter and one in the spring. Students in grades 1-6 may participate.
The winter tournament brought 112 participants out of more than 500 students in the junior division, grades 1-4, and senior division, grades 5-6, according to Vice Principal Brian Frazier.
Winner of the senior division was Devin Arentz, 6th grader, with second place winner Emily Johnson, a 5th grade student.
Winner of the junior division was Daniel Foley, a 4th grader, and second was taken by Spencer Lewis, a 3rd grader.
