On Dec. 15, David McNulty and Melina Lombardo’s classes at C.C. Meneley Elementary School delivered food to the Carson Valley Inn for the Channel 2 News annual Drive-by Food Drive.

The two classes collected the most canned food and paper goods in the CCMES student council food drive competition. The winning students had the privilege of delivering the food to the Carson Valley Inn themselves.

The drive ran from Nov. 22 through Dec. 13 at CCMES and all donations will go to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

“It’s wonderful to see the Meneley student body experience the joy of giving during this holiday season,” said Mary Garcia, student council adviser. Garcia also said that the council hoped to collect more than 1,000 items this year.

After the food drive ended, said principal Brian Frasier, the students managed to exceed their goal and collect 2,100 donations for food closet.
