Catholic inquiry sessions offered to adults this month

by Gail Davenport

The St. Gall Catholic Community is offering inquiry sessions into the Catholic faith on two consecutive Tuesday evenings, Sept. 12 and Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. in the multi-use room at the church, located at 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.

According to Marion Gandy, RCIA coordinator, the RCIA process is one of learning and living the Christian life as revealed by Scripture and Catholic tradition. RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, and it is patterned after the way people in the very early church were brought to faith in Christ and initiated into the church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

It explores the teachings, practices and history of the Catholic Church so that each RCIA member comes to enjoy a fuller, richer understanding of God and our relationship to God and community.

The inquiry sessions are for any person wanting to learn about the Catholic faith, those desiring to become Roman Catholic, adult Catholics who have not completed the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist or any person feeling an emptiness in life that a deeper faith could fill.
