Carson Valley string students in Suzuki Play-in in Reno

For the fifth consecutive year, students of the Carson Valley Violin School have been invited by The Suzuki Music Association of Reno-Tahoe to participate in its annual “Winter Play-in.”

This year’s event will be held in the Nightingale Theater on the Uiversity of Nevada, Reno campus Sunday, Feb. 28. The performance will begin at 4 p.m. and is open to the public without charge.

The Carson Valley Violin School offers the only comprehensive string program in rural Nevada string instruction is not available in any public school in the state other than those in Clark and Washoe counties.

In addition to the annual “Suzuki Play-in,” the school’s students participate in regular concerts and recitals and, for the past three years, have performed with the Reno Philharmonic on its “Pops in the Park Concert,” July 4th in Genoa.

The school, which is in its seventh year, offers lessons on the violin, viola, cello and bass to students all ages from kindergarten on.
