Carson Valley Inn Denim Day to be observed with donations and lunch
For the fifth straight year, the Carson Valley Inn and many of its employees will be participating in the “Lee National Denim Day” on Oct. 6.
All CVI employees are being given the opportunity to contribute $5 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the nation’s leading private funder of breast cancer research.
The inn will match the total amount of funds raised by the employees.
According to Carson Valley Inn owner, Jean Mulreany, “We are pleased to have raised over $11,000 through employee contributions, golf tournaments and employee prize money for breast cancer research during the last four years.”
For the second year, players in the Carson Valley Inn’s annual Mixed Scramble Golf Tournament donated an additional $650 to the Komen Foundation. All players donating $15 participated in the “Rally for the Cure” hole and received a free subscription to Golf for Women and also had a shot at “closest to the hole” and “on the green” prizes.
All Carson Valley Inn employees who make the $5 donation will receive a pink ribbon pin to be worn on Friday, Oct. 6. They’ll also be asked to wear denim clothing to work that day as part of the national recognition of breast cancer awareness.
According to Denim Day Coordinator, Eileen Paige, “We had 57 percent employee participation last year and are hoping to surpass that number this year. All the money donated to Komen Foundation goes directly to breast cancer research and education.”
