Carson Valley Art Association to hold annual scholarship art show

Staff reports

The Carson Valley Art Association will host its annual scholarship benefit art show Aug. 25, 26 and 27 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Showtimes are Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The show is an annual event to raise money for deserving Douglas High School art students who are seniors and planning to continue their art education. In the past, CVAA has been able to provide two $500 scholarships per year for this purpose.

The art show is open to the public, and a raffle will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the CVIC Hall. You need not be there to win. Prizes are numerous and local merchants have been more than generous with their contributions.

Members and non-members are invited to exhibit their work. This will be a judged show with cash awards. Entries will be received Thursday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.

Among the raffle prizes at the CVAA Scholarship Art Show 2000 will be an oil painting set, Windsor Newton, from Austin Arts, Carson City; dinner for two, $50 value, CVI’s Fiona’s restaurant, Minden; Jeff Nicholson print, Great Basin Gallery, Carson City; meal for two, Heidi’s Family Restaurant, Minden; a gift certificate, $50 value, Judy Allen Gallery and Frame, Yerington; and $100, LaMonica Properties, Minden.

Some CVAA members have also donated art works for the raffle. These art works will be on display at the art show. Tickets for the raffle will be available at the show.
