Car wash embezzler must pay $31,000 or face prison
A Gardnerville man was ordered to pay back the $31,000 he admitted stealing from the owners of a Carson Valley car wash on Tuesday.
Andrew C. Plante, 29, received a suspended 18-60 month prison sentence in District Judge Tod Young’s courtroom, according to prosecutor Ric Casper.
Plante must also serve up to six months in Douglas County Jail.
Plante admitted to felony embezzlement.
According to court documents, Plante worked as a manager and would take deposits home.
He was spotted on a video entering an office after he was fired on Feb. 10.
Owners told deputies the car wash was usually profitable, but that the last year revenues were down to the point where they were subsidizing workers’ salaries. They said they thought it was due to the bad weather.
Plante must undergo drug treatment as part of his sentence. He was given credit for 72 days time served.
