On that day, look for the Shop Small decals in stores throughout Carson Valley. Each of them is offering a Small Business Saturday special or two and have a $25 American Express gift card to give away that day.

“At the first one you visit, pick up a Holiday Treasure Tree entry form. Get 10 ornaments on the form initialed at the specific stores that day and bring it to the chamber office by 3:45 p.m.,” organizers said. “At 4 p.m., one of the entry forms will be drawn to win the Holiday Treasure, a gift basket from the participating merchants worth hundreds of dollars.”

Joint chamber luncheon features Russ Sullivan

The Dec. 4 joint health care chamber of commerce luncheon will feature Russ Sullivan, attorney for Associated Industries of Massachussetts. The luncheon is noon-1 p.m. at the Carson Nugget. Cost is $10 per person.

Sullivan will discuss Affordable Care Act impact on plan design and wellness initiatives, turning Employer Shared Responsibility assessments into a health care strategy, and the hidden impact on employers with fewer than 50 employees

“Get tips for survival, controlling costs, guessing what employees will do, how exchanges will work and more,” organizers said. “This interactive session will focus on the role carriers, brokers and employers play in developing solutions to the ACA puzzle.”
