State Farm branch opens in Gardnerville
A Gardnerville State Farm branch hosted its grand opening last week during the Thirsty Third Thursday Wine Walk.
Owner Alex Urbine said he was excited to get to know the community.
“It was very successful,” he said. “People came in in waves and we got to know a lot about the community. It was great.”
Urbine was born and raised in Elko and received a general education degree from Salt Lake City Community College.
After graduation he decided he wanted to be an insurance agent and started looking into different agencies before finding a home with State Farm. He worked as a State Farm agent for 16 years in Utah.
Urbine said upon approval and certification of becoming an agent, State Farm provides a list of areas where agents are needed and where markets need improvement. Gardnerville was a location he couldn’t pass up.
“Nevada is my home,” he said. “It’s nice to come back to that small town environment where everyone knows your name.”
State Farm — a group of insurance and financial services companies in the Unites States — provides personal, auto, homeowner, life and health insurance, as well as business and banking.
Urbine specializes in retirement plans and financial services.
“Being a major retirement community, I want to be able to provide services to those who need it and get them the help they are looking for so they can live comfortably,” he said.
State Farm’s mission is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams, and that is what Urbine hopes to provide for the community.
“I like helping people and helping them be more conservative,” he said. “I am looking forward to getting to know the community and providing my services in whatever way I can.”
