The Carson City Mint Coin Show & Fair is set for today and Saturday. The coin show will be in the Carson Nugget Ballroom, 507 N. Carson St., and the coin-education fair will occur at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St.

The event will include 26 dealers who will offer numismatic expertise and free appraisals at the Nugget. The education fair will include lectures, gold panning and children’s activities. It will feature discussion about the history of the Carson City Mint, Lincoln penny, ancient coins, Civil War tokens and coin grading.

The cost is $4 per day for both locations. Children and museum members get in free. The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

There also will be a raffle for prizes, including one ounce doré silver bar ($505 value), Morgan silver dollars, men’s and women’s Aurista coin watches and silver commemorative medallions, such as a MacKay silver and Nevada Day commemorative minted on Coin Press No. 1.
