Antique store grand opening
One Minden antique store is gearing up for their grand opening ceremony complete with a barbecue and a chance to check out their entire inventory.
Red Barn Antiques is hosting their grand opening on Sept. 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The antique store is located in the Minden Blacksmith building at 1578 U.S. Highway 395 and was built in 1908.
The antique store specializes in unique furniture and larger items instead of little trinkets.
“Our antiques are more rustic and bigger antiques like tractors, signs, gas pumps and coke machines,” said owner Barry Simpson.
Simpson along with his wife Cindy and their children all work together in the store and help out in various ways.
“We tear down Nevada barns and make furniture out of them,” said Simpson.
Simpson had a booth at another antique store for a while before deciding to open his own location.
“I’ve been collecting for a long time,” he said.
While the store has been open for a few months, they are celebrating their grand opening this week.
Simpson has been a Carson Valley resident close to 50 years, and is happy that he was able to work with his family on this venture.
“Everything made in there is by the family,” said Simpson.
Red Barn Antiques is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
