Shoppers can sip champagne as they browse the newest Christmas card additions to Joyce’s Fine Jewelry collection Nov. 7 as part of their annual Christmas Card Release Show.

Joyce’s Fine Jewelry will be hosting the 35th annual Christmas card release featuring local artists, Linda Guslani Stratton and Mimi Jobe from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Every year Joyce’s works in partnership with Stratton, as well as with the family of Jobe to create an original work of art representing the Carson Valley.

“Typically these original works of art are winter scenes that capture the beauty of the Sierras, and represent the tradition of family and friends during the holidays,” Krissie Thornhill of Designing Images, LLC said.

Both of these works of art are then produced into a Christmas Card that is exclusive to the Carson Valley.

Stratton’s Christmas card is an original 2015 oil painting and Jobe’s Christmas card is from a private collection owned by a local resident.

“Seeing the wonder of Christmas through the innocent eyes of children gave Linda the inspiration for her 2015 Christmas painting. Nothing is more enchanting and spectacular than a soft, quiet snowfall. We all wish for peace and tranquility as family and friends gather together to celebrate during this magical season,” said Norie Jenkins, owner of Joyce’s Fine Jewelry. “Christmas is a reminder of the hope, harmony and awe that we should carry in our hearts all year long, whether we are young or just young at heart. This is my absolute favorite time of the year at Joyce’s.” “Our annual show has turned into an amazingly creative production, taking an entire year to plan the launch. It is a community tradition, as well as a family one. The whole Joyce’s family and superb staff get involved. I helped my mother, Joyce Neddenriep, when she and Mimi started it 35 years ago. Now my mother and daughter, Krissie Thornhill, and very creative staff help me in executing the show.”

Stratton lives and creates in the Carson Valley.

She has studied locally with artist Tina Tyrrell and also at the Scottsdale Artists School in Arizona.

Traveling to southern France to paint, and attending many art workshops around the country has given Stratton the experience to develop her unique and charming style.

For the past several years Stratton’s original artwork has been featured at Joyce’s, and this will be the fourth year her Christmas card is on sale at the store.

Along with her annual Christmas cards, Joyce’s has available giclee prints of selected pieces, other original artwork, all-occasion note cards, notebooks and gift tags, all by Stratton.

Both 2015 Christmas cards can be purchased throughout the entire holiday season.

Cards may also be purchased in quantities or singles.

“Every year I look forward to presenting the new Christmas cards to the community,” Jenkins said. “This year’s cards are both very unique to the Carson Valley. We think our collectors will be thrilled. The innovation and creativity behind our newest partnership with Linda G. Stratton is very exciting; her fresh and colorful perspective on art is just lovely. Joyce’s has partnered with Mimi Jobe, and the Jobe family for the last 35 years in this event. It has become a legacy event for the Carson Valley. I am incredibly proud of our 35 years in the event partnership and its living legacy for the future. For many Carson Valley residents our event is a tradition to begin the holiday season. Mimi’s card, ‘A Call for Snow,’ demonstrates Mimi’s ability to capture the beauty and wildlife of the Carson Valley. Linda’s card, ‘The Wonder of Christmas,’ is an charming and colorful Christmas scene.”

New to this year’s event is the showcase of the newest partnership between Joyce’s and Halleluja Toffee.

Hallelujah Toffee is a local nonprofit organization that will be available for purchase the day of the card show.

“This year’s Christmas cards will be introduced along with all the finest of holiday treasurers from ornaments and holiday tabletop accessories to garlands, tree glamour, and season gifts,” Thornhill said.

Joyce’s will also be serving champagne and hor d’oeuvres the day of the event to ring in the holiday season.

Joyce’s Fine Jewelry is located in The Record-Courier Center at 1503 Highway 395, Suite A in Gardnerville.
